Mauritius is an island with Port Louis being its capital city. It is located in the Indian Ocean, covering an area of approximately 1865 square kilometres and is within close proximity of the Indian sub continent to the north, Far East and Australia to the East and South Africa to the West.

Mauritius is member of the International Court of Justice. The Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency, the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes and the 1958 New York Convention on Foreign Arbitration Awards.

Freeport
 
The Mauritius Freeport was established in 1992 as a customs-free zone and goods destined for re-export.
 
The Freeport promotes regional trade and place Mauritius in the centre for all warehousing, distribution, marketing and logistics activities.
The Mauritius Freeport Authority is responsible for controlling and regulating the Freeport sector.
